My client's father passed away earlier this year. He wanted a piece of custom jewelry to give to his mother; a keepsake to keep her late husband close to her heart. We decided on a 14kt gold-filled locket with a delicate floral pattern on the front. Inside, two small, personal photographs fit. On the back, I engraved the words "Arise, my beloved, and come".
Jewelry is almost always used to signify a major life event: births, birthdays, holidays, marriages, anniversaries, deaths. Jewelry speaks volumes, even when you don't have the words to voice your emotions. And it keeps our loved ones close to us, even when they're not present.
