Orchids beguile their desired pollinators and pitcher plants lure their dinner by suggesting, through form, color, and texture, that there is something desirable inside them. In a similar manner of enticement, the bulbous, expansive and hollow designs tempt the wearer into slipping on my large yet lightweight jewelry.
For me, the paired constraints of design and function are the most interesting aspects to consider when creating jewelry. This attitude is evident throughout this series, where the clasp or closure is a main source of the design. Like an orchid to its pollinator, every piece of my jewelry is designed to fit its mate: a bracelet to a wrist, a brooch to a blouse.
